Meet the Pastor
Reverend John Kenneth White is a native of Hartsville S.C. He now serves as Pastor of the New Salem Baptist Church, Newark, New Jersey.
Reverend White attended Claflin College, Orangeburg, SC. He received a Bachelor's Degree from the College of New Rochelle in Social Psychology & Religious Studies and is a graduate of New York Theological Seminary, with a Certificate in Christian Ministry and also has completed studies at the Eastern Baptist School of Religion, Virginia Union Theological Seminary.
Reverend White is the founder of "The Sons of Melchizedic" a holistic program for young men ages 8 to 18 years and holds the rank of Troop Commander for Boy Scout Troop & Pack #357.
Reverend White is a nine-year veteran of the United States Coast Guard and has received numerous awards and honors. He serves on the board of The Central Family Life Center, Advisory Board for Boy Scouts of America, Staten Island and Colgate's inner-city Oral Health program.
Reverend White is spirit-led, centered in God's word with an emphasis on Spiritual Development. Under the anointed leadership of Reverend White, God is taking New Salem to another level. His powerful preaching and teaching has brought about a positive change in the lives of many, as he strives toward making the visionary theme a reality…"On our knees in humility, on our feet in unity".
He is married to the former Laura A. Haynes and of that 31-year union they have one son Jonathan, 21 years old.
